My Story
I was born and raised in India. I have a Ph.D. in Mathematics and have been teaching Computer Science for over 40 years now.

Growing up, I would watch my mom, aunts, and grandmothers cooking elaborate Indian dishes.
After I moved to the United States in my early 20s, I had no choice but to start cooking my own meals. I started with simple Indian recipes I saw growing up.
So I was cooking for my friends and my own family. I even started experimenting with Indian desserts, including Ras Malai, Ras Gula, and Gulab Jaman.
Here are a few of my favorite Indian recipes:
- Kitchari – this was one of the very first things I learned how to make.
- Paratha – whether it’s a simple paratha or an aloo paratha.
- Aloo Matar Tomatar – a savory mix of potatoes, peas, and tomatoes cooked in spices.
